I am passionate about STEM education. Formerly a high school and community college science teacher, I now work for Cal State Channel Islands helping to manage a $3.5 million grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM). In this role, I have the privilege of working with students in the stem cell and laboratory management (SCLTM) emphasis of our master of science in biotechnology program who complete year-long internships at premiere stem cell research facilities all over California under the mentorship of leading scientists in the field of stem cell technology and regenerative medicine. In addition, I serve as the vice president on the board of the Gold Coast Science Network (GCSN) and on the operating counsel of the Discovery Center for Science and Technology. GCSN is an affiliate of the CSTA and organizes a regional conference for science educators every 12-24 months in Ventura County, CA. I am also a member of the Bio Science Alliance (BSA) and very active in the BSA Workforce Development group, in addition to being an avid volunteer coach, science presenter, and youth leader for several nonprofit organizations.
